This meditation for piano was written after hearing sad news from a family friend. Mournful regret, poignant memories, and a desire for peace all permeate this simple composition.
Throughout, the left hand is required to play chord voicings containing 10th intervals. Smaller hands will need to roll these. It is important to bring out the primary melody in the higher voice of the right hand despite the sometimes thick texture. The slow tempo will be difficult for some students, especially when fermatas, accelerandos, and ritardandos are added. Subdividing eighth-notes will be most helpful.
