My apologies for missing last week's review. Besides interuption from seasonal garden duties(see the old post 5 Reasons Every Musician Should Grow A Garden), we had three days without internet services. After an hour and 1/2 of a highly reduntant, painfully scripted and all-around soul crushing conversation with an AT&T representative, we are back online.
-I've noticed a spike in views of my post Music in Collapse: Interview with a Jazz Musicin Living in Greece. This related headline got my attention- Greece’s unemployment rate hits 26.4%
-Here's an interesting read over at the Atlantic: God's Love Supreme: The Arrival of Jazz as Christian Worship Music. Personally, I find more focused works such as Duke Ellington's Sacred Concerts to be more compelling than mixing jazz standards into a church service.
-I didn't realize Jack DeJohnette is 70. Jazz Setlist, March 14-20: Party with Jack
-A friend of mine who is presently out to sea sent me a link to 26 podcasts about being a cruise ship musician.
-Here's a 51 minute set from what looks like the 1980s with Monty Alexander, John Clayton, and Jeff Hamilton.
